The Centre for Microenterprise Development (CMD) is a local non-governmental organization (NGO) established in 2002 and incorporated in 2005 as a company limited by guarantee.

Objectives

	To build greater knowledge about micro enterprises and small business development in Nigeria with a view to encouraging more targeted product development and customer service among institutions that serve low-income and poor people.
	To promote exchanges and learning on practice, performance and policy issues in the micro-finance sector with a view to fostering a more enabling environment that will encourage the establishment of new institutions that are driven by market knowledge and customer service, and encourage old ones to improve their institutional capacities for greater impact outreach.
	To encourage partnership building that will generate deeper understanding of the issues affecting the demand and supply of financial services to low income and poor people in Nigeria with a view to increasing the quality, depth and scope of the services available.
